In an official announcement, Sony has revealed the launch of its new WH-CH720N over-ear headphones, which were the subject of earlier leaks. As expected, the WH-CH720N headphones are a successor to Sony’s WH-CH710N, and they share several key features with the WH-1000XM5, the brand’s flagship wireless headphones. These features include Bluetooth 5.2 support, Multipoint connectivity, voice control, and the V1 Integrated Processor, which is found in Sony’s popular WH-1000XM5 headphones and WF-1000XM4 earbuds.
The WH-CH720N headphones come in four colors, black, blue, white, and beige, and will be available for purchase in March 2023 at an affordable price tag of $150/£130 (around AU$220). Sony claims that the headphones are its lightest overhead wireless headphones yet to feature ANC, weighing in at 192g.
One of the standout features of the WH-CH720N headphones is the dual-microphone system in each earcup, which captures and blocks ambient noise with the help of Sony’s Dual Noise Sensor algorithms. The headphones offer 20 levels of noise canceling that users can access via the Sony companion app, along with Adaptive Sound Control that enables different ANC settings for various locations and activities.
The Wind Noise Reduction Structure in the four beamforming microphones used in the headphones allows for clear calls even in breezy conditions. Additionally, the headphones offer a battery life of up to 35 hours with noise canceling on, which is a plus point for users on the go.
Overall, the WH-CH720N headphones pack several advanced features at an affordable price point, and with the V1 Integrated Processor, they promise to deliver class-leading noise canceling and DSEE upscaling, making them an attractive option for those looking for a mid-tier set of headphones with high-end performance.
