Samsung has unveiled its fifth-generation foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5, showcasing a host of new features designed to enhance the foldable design. The Z Flip5, priced from $1,000, offers a larger 3.4-inch interactive Flex Window, enabling it to function almost as a full smartphone display. The Flex Window supports numerous widgets for activities such as weather checking, photo taking and editing, texting, music control, payments, social network browsing, and even YouTube video watching.
The flagship Galaxy Z Fold5, priced from $1,800, opens like a book and features a new Flex Hinge design. It is Samsung’s thinnest and lightest Fold to date, and comes with a slimmer, more compact S Pen Fold. The device features a 6.2-inch Cover Screen usable as a standard smartphone when closed and a 7.6-inch AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate when unfolded.
Both new smartphones are powered by the Snapdragon Gen 2 mobile platform. The Galaxy Z Fold5 also offers improved software-based Taskbar for quick app switching and a two-handed drag and drop for moving content between apps.
Alongside the smartphones, Samsung has also launched the Galaxy Watch6 series and new Galaxy Tab tablets. The Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic offer enhanced health features, including sleep score calculations, body composition measurements, and irregular heart rhythm notifications.
The Galaxy Tab S9, S9+, and S9 Ultra offer 11-inch, 12.4-inch, and 14.6-inch displays respectively, on-screen fingerprint recognition, and S Pen support.
Preorders for the Galaxy Z Fold5, Galaxy Z Flip5, Galaxy Watch6 series, and Galaxy Tab S9 series start today, with general availability from August 11.
