Google Pixel Watch review

The Pixel Watch is just what users of Pixel devices have been waiting for, despite the fact that it’s not a perfect timepiece. Fitbit’s fitness monitoring capabilities, attractive design, and sophisticated software make a strong showing for a first-generation device. For our review, it wasn’t simple to separate the Pixel Device’s real performance from the commotion around a flagship product. The perfect fusion of Fitbit and Google? It almost sounds too good to be true, yet in the majority of cases, it fulfills its promises. The Google apps function nicely, and Fitbit’s health monitoring is still as thorough as ever.

Introducing the Pixel watch

Google now offers an Android smartwatch made specifically for Pixel phone customers. The Google Pixel watch has the most Google apps of all the OS watches on the market. Even though it might not have as sophisticated a wearable health system as the Fitbit Sense, the Google Pixel watch is still the smartest Fitbit watch to date. The Google Pixel Watch’s fitness tracking is more thorough than Google Fit’s.

If you limit your use of geolocation and activity tracking, the Google Pixel watch can last for 24 hours. The curved Dupont Gorilla Glass 5 on the Google Pixel Watch is far less resilient than the sapphire crystal screen on watches such as the Apple Extreme and Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Pro. There is only one size for the Pixel Watch, which is 41 mm. Despite its small size,  this size is quite sufficient.

Design

The Google Pixel Watch is a plain-looking, almost basic, smartwatch. For those with larger wrists, the absence of a wider variety might be a problem, but it is a perfect fit for most people. The face has a circular shape and a 3D glass dome. This enhanced effect, which draws attention away from the panel’s wide bezel, does not alter the fact that the sizable screen section is inaccessible. There could have been a chance to have a rotating digital bezel there. The interface and all of Google’s watches have black backgrounds to further conceal the bezel. The Google Photos watch has a face that magnifies in the bezel, highlighting the watch’s small size, which is really great from a personalization perspective.

Fitness monitoring

Users will get access to both the Fitbit Premium’s all-encompassing health features and the straightforward activity statistics because Fitbit is the only company that powers the fitness tracking capabilities of the Google Pixel Watch. The watch, which can also measure your pulse rate and continuously record your steps, can track more than 40 different types of workouts. It is astonishing how quickly the heart rate readings varied throughout exercises and changed constantly on watch displays that had heart rate complications.

During yoga sessions with both the Apple Watch Series 7 and Google Pixel Watch, the Pixel Watch recorded actual heart rate fluctuations at least one full second quicker than that of the Apple Watch. When it comes to GPS tracking on walks and runs, the Pixel Watch’s speed estimations on big roads and my neighborhood track lined up precisely with the Apple Watch. Useful metrics, such as speed, distance, duration, steps, and achieved Active Zone Minutes, were continuously presented on the training interface.

Fitbit Premium

With Fitbit Premium, you can access more advanced tools like sleep monitoring analysis, meditations, well-being reports, and more. Google will provide Pixel Watch users with a free 6-month Fitbit Premium subscription, which is the standard offer for the best Fitbit products.

Wear OS

The Pixel Watch offers nearly all of the apps a person might use on a daily basis thanks to Wear OS, which incorporates Google’s suite of services. This also includes Google Maps, Calendar Events, Google Pay, Google, Youtube, and Google Assistant. You can navigate using Google Maps, receive 10-minute meeting reminders from Google Calendar, and turn on your lighting using the Google Home application on your wrist. You can also use Google Assistant to ask questions. The presence of Google Assistant here is, a significant positive; even though it’s expected, it’s still delightful and a great substitute for Siri just on the Apple Watch for functions like timers or weather queries.

Battery power

Wearable devices frequently need to be recharged, but switching from the Fitbit Sense, which had a lifespan of up to 5 days, to a device with a much lower battery life was unexpected. The Pixel watch comes with a simple magnetic charging cable. It takes around an hour to charge completely, which is equivalent to how long it takes to charge the majority of regular smartwatches.

Other than the Apple Watch Ultra, there may not be another wristwatch that has generated as much expectation as the Google Pixel Watch. On the one hand, Google services and Fitbit health tracking provide the perfect fusion of connectivity and activity tracking. The Pixel watch solidifies Fitbit’s status as one of the top wellness solutions on the market. This is a fantastic smartwatch to buy if you have a Pixel smartphone.
