Garmin, a leading manufacturer of GPS navigation technology, has introduced two new smartwatches designed specifically for runners. The Forerunner 265 series and Forerunner 965 are the company’s first dedicated running watches with AMOLED displays. The new watches provide a comprehensive set of “advanced training metrics” for runners, including heart-rate variability (HRV), overall sleep quality, and training load.
The Forerunner 265 series includes two different sizes: the 42mm Forerunner 265S and the 46mm Forerunner 265. Both models come equipped with Pulse Ox sensors, “Body Battery” energy monitoring, sleep and stress tracking, menstrual cycle monitoring, and pregnancy tracking. Additionally, they monitor V02 max, performance conditions, and other metrics. The watches offer up to 24 hours of battery life in GPS mode and up to 15 days in smartwatch mode for the 265S and up to 20 hours of GPS use and 13 days of smartwatch use for the 265. The watches also provide two adaptive training options, including daily suggested workouts and a video series from Garmin coaches.
On the other hand, the Forerunner 965 is the higher-end model featuring a 1.4-inch AMOLED display, longer battery life, and built-in mapping capabilities. It also includes all the features of the cheaper models with additional performance metrics such as load ratio, real-time stamina info to manage exertion levels, and detailed climbing metrics, including gradient, distance, and elevation gains. The Forerunner 965 has up to 31 hours of battery life in GPS mode and up to 23 days in smartwatch mode.
The Forerunner 265 series and Forerunner 965 are compatible with both iOS and Android and come with the Garmin Connect app for data analysis and management. The watches are ideal for runners who are looking for an advanced tracking device to improve their performance and overall health.
The Forerunner 965 will be available for purchase in late March and will cost $600, while the Forerunner 265 series is available now for $450.
