EA and Codemasters have released further information regarding this year’s installment of their popular Formula 1 racing simulation series. F1 23 is set to make its grand entrance on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC through the EA App, Steam, and Epic Games Store, all on June 16th.
One of the game’s notable features is the return of the Braking Point story mode, which was first introduced in F1 2021 but absent from the last year’s version. In the upcoming release, Devon Butler, the antagonist from the original story, joins forces with Aiden Jackson on a rookie racing team, setting their sights on challenging F1’s top contenders. Players can anticipate new characters, trials, and rivalries along the journey.
Codemasters has fine-tuned the cars’ handling based on feedback gathered from real-life F1 teams. The upgraded cars are expected to exhibit more reliable performance, offering enhanced traction during braking, acceleration, and cornering. The studio has also optimized engine torque and inertia, achieved a balance between aerodynamics and tire grip for added authenticity, and incorporated Precision Drive technology specifically for controller users, as stated by EA.
The game faithfully represents every team, driver, and circuit from the actual F1 2023 season, featuring the street circuit of the brand-new Las Vegas Grand Prix and Qatar’s Lusail International Circuit. Legacy circuits including Paul Ricard (France), Shanghai (China), and Portimão (Portugal) will also be immediately available.
For increased flexibility, players will have the option to set races to 35 percent of their real-world lengths, making it more accommodating for those unable to commit to a full-length grand prix.
Interestingly, red flags, a significant component of F1 races, are making their first appearance in the series in 2023.
